Antonietta Collins

Antonietta Toni Gonzalez Collins is a Mexican American journalist. She is currently employed by ESPN as a reporter for SportsCenter and sometimes hosts SportsNation. The first time she worked for ESPN in 2016. Her mother is television reporter Maria Antonieta Collins. Antonietta is bilingual since age nine. Her ability was crucial in helping her get her first post as a producer assistant at Univision Miami, where she worked with the producers of programs including Nuestra Belleza Latina and Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud. Her next job was as reporter for sports at The CBS St. Petersburg Affiliate. She moved into Rio Grande Valley in 2009 to work as a reporter on one of the Spanish channel KNVO TV 48 Univision, and Fox2 News. Reporting on stories about trafficking in drugs and immigration on both sides of the Texas-Mexico border, she worked as an anchor for the 5 p.m. Spanish newscast a reporter and later anchor of anchoring the 9 p.m. newscast in English, and a reporter again for at 10 p.m. Spanish newscast. Also, she was a substitute for anchors of sports and weather forecasters. She then anchored and reported for Univision's Dallas affiliate Deportes 23 where she was given more responsibilities. She created pieces for Major League Baseball ALDS ALCS as well as the World Series as well Dallas Cowboys NBA postseason finals FC Dallas, and Dallas Stars. She also hosted on the regional Univision 23 sports show Accion Deportiva Extra. She was promoted to sports anchor on Despierta America Deportes' morning show. In the same role for the network's magazine show Primer Impacto and for UniMas Network's Contacto Deportivo. Antonietta Collin's parents originally hail from Veracruz Mexico. They eventually settled in Mexico City and she was born there on November 22, 1985. She is more mature than her younger sister. The family relocated to Miami after moving to Mexico into the US. They divorced shortly thereafter in 1995. Her mother got married to one of the naval architects named Fabio Fajardo who died of kidney cancer in 2006. It was during a summer vacation that she stayed with her sibling in Canton Ohio where the older Collins girl had secured the job. Antonietta was an incoming senior in high school and had a very clear vision of what she wanted to do in her future career. She visited Mount Union University to determine if they suited her. The result was that she enjoyed the university and that the school provided the degree she was looking for. When she completed her high school education, she was accepted into the University to pursue media studies. Mark Bergmann was her professor as well as the director of WRMU in which she is a member. They formed a strong relationship. His passion for journalism and confidence in herself encouraged her. In turn, she, tried to meet the standards he set and to not let him down.
